Auto supplier Engineered Plastic Components Inc. plans to open a new manufacturing facility in Leeds, Ala., a suburb of Birmingham.

EPC has purchased 75,000-square-foot office/warehouse facility and plans to invest $7.3 million, the Alabama Department of Commerce announced April 30. Production is scheduled to begin in July.

Based in Grinnell, Iowa, the injection molder manufactures thermoplastic products for industries including automotive, commercial and consumer appliances, aerospace, off-road heavy equipment, scientific and medical, according to its website.

EPC operates 14 facilities in North America. The Leeds plant will become the hub of the company’s Southeastern operations, producing injection molded interior automotive parts.
